Whether you are celebrating Easter or Passover or Spring Fever this weekend, the place to be is Whistler, B.C. With a base of 363 cm (that’s 143 inches), there is plenty of spring skiing and boarding left. Although it has been a bit hard to see at the top in places, the Whistler Village is packed with tired skiers and apres skiers alike. Mr. H joined his friends on Blackcomb yesterday and today they tackle Whistler. The village has certainly expanded since we were here last. Shopping is def on my agenda this weekend.
Spring fever has brought out many in costumes and we are here during the World World Ski & Snowboard Festival (WSSF). With a combination of sport, music, and art, there is good reason to celebrate every day and party every night – for ten full days. That’s ten days that host Canada’s largest free outdoor concert series, pro-athlete ski and snowboard competitions, photography and film events, endless nightlife, and some of the best spring skiing & riding you’ll find in North America.
Yesterday I recovered from the flight out and a tough week with a Thai Stem massage at the Avello Spa in the Westin. The calming eucalyptus oils permeating the air, all of the knots in my body were soon pummelled into oblivion.
We had dinner in the packed to the rafters Umberto’s Trattoria and Umberto even stopped by our table to say hello. Evidently his wife thought it would be a good night to have dinner at his Whistler outpost. She was right; a real treat for Easterners who don’t have an Umberto to cook for them.
Whatever you are celebrating this weekend, I hope there is some chocolate in it for you!
