The best bars to TIFF stargaze

The summer party is over at the cottage and now our thoughts turn to fall in the 6ix, which means it must be TIFF time. While you may want to see the movies in your local Cineplex, you can enjoy the scene and the stars at the following great stargazing spots. TIFF runs from September 7, 2017 to September 17, 2017.

Azure Restaurant & Bar, InterContinental Toronto Centre

Azure Restaurant & Bar at the InterContinental® Toronto Centre will be offering guests a stylish TIFF touch by serving the festive cocktail, A Toast to TIFF. The cocktail was designed to be an easy-to-make, at home treat for movie-goers who may not have the time to catch a TIFF flick (cocktail and recipes below).

A little-known secret is that the InterContinental Toronto Centre is the epicentre of TIFF North American press junkets. While guests are sipping cocktails, there is a very good chance they can be doing some serious star-gazing.

Ritz Carlton Velvet Rope Experience

The hotel’s signature item this year is the aptly named, Velvet Rope Experience.  Available at either Ritz Bar or DEQ Lounge from September 7th – 17th, this premier experience begins with a hand-crafted blend of Remy Martin Louis XIII cognac, 2009 Louis Roederer Cristal champagne, house-made saffron and hibiscus syrup, clarified lemon juice and Peychaud’s bitters, and is served with Glacier Bay oysters topped with Acadian wild sturgeon caviar – the world’s only wild and sustainable caviar – for $1,000 per couple.

The star treatment continues at Spa My Blend by Clarins, which is offering a variety of events and services that promise to have guests ready for the spotlight.  From September 8-10th, the spa will host an InstaGlam event which will feature the exclusive My Blend Blending Bar, combined with complimentary makeup applications and hair styling.  Spa My Blend will also offer a TIFF-themed treatment menu that includes such services as the Red Carpet Glow, Scene Stealer or Star for a Day package.

At TOCA, a blockbuster Sunday brunch is sure to satisfy any Hollywood craving.  Available September 10th or 17th, the exclusive event includes a carving station, sustainable seafood bar, handmade pasta, breakfast market favourites, freshly baked pastries, dessert station and Chef’s selection of cheese from the restaurant’s Cheese Cave for $125 per person.  For the ultimate brunch, guests can upgrade their experience to include a bottle of Cristal champagne for $650 per couple.

Throughout the 10-day festival, The Ritz-Carlton, Toronto will also feature several specialty activations in its lobby such as a 15-foot chocolate centerpiece, champagne garden, café, candy stations and a step and repeat board for guests to capture their own special moments at #RCTIFF.

The Hazelton Hotel

Further uptown in Yorkville, The Hazelton Hotel has always been the place to hang in the bar or on the side to catch TIFF stars.

For a cocktail befitting of such a stylish scenario, order an earthy basil gimlet or a wildcat cider (a blend of Bulleit bourbon, Calvados and a splash of apple cider), and pair with veal and ricotta meatballs or creamy spinach dip off of the bar snacks menu. Open until 11:30 p.m. Extended hours during TIFF.

Personally, we’ll be going to the Mean Girls screening preceded by Begone Dull Care on September 10…could Regina possibly be there?
