Toronto Fashion Week Re-imagined

The first sign that it’s back to work and time to get down to business is the ready to wear shows are kicking off today. The first is in Toronto and it’s a reimagined Toronto Fashion Week with new owners and location (Yorkville), billed as a Festival of Fashion and Culture and featuring international design stars such as Jean Paul Gautier and headline entertainers along with the following Canadian and Toronto-based labels walking the runways:

Pink Tartan

Pink Tartan is a womenswear brand founded by president and design director Kimberley Newport-Mimran in 2002. Known for its sophisticated sportswear and understated luxury, the label has established a global following, which includes celebrity clientele like Kate Hudson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Meghan Markle and Kim Catrall.

Lucian Matis

Lucian Matis is a Toronto-based womenswear designer whose eponymous label features elegant daywear and eveningwear with couture-quality embellishment.

Nikki Wirthensohn Yassemi is the designer and creative director of Narces, a Toronto-based womenswear label specializing in elegant eveningwear, bridal gowns and after five attire.


Hayley Elsaesser

Hayley Elsaesser is a Toronto-based designer known for her bold tongue-in-cheek take on streetwear staples. Influenced by pop culture, she incorporates elements from music, film, literature and childhood nostalgia to create her signature punchy prints.

House of Suri

House of Suri is a Toronto-based womenswear label designed by Leila Zadeh, featuring minimalist designs that encapsulate beauty through simplicity. The geometric cuts of the garments border on androgynous, creating a contrast with the soft, feminine fabrics sourced from the finest Italian and Japanese mills.



UNTTLD is a Montreal-based luxury womenswear label co-founded by designers José Manuel St-Jacques and Simon Bélanger in 2011.


Bustle is a Toronto-based menswear line founded by former Bay Street lawyers and husband/wife team Shawn Hewson and Ruth Promislow in 2002.
