After we returned from seeing Diana Ross, the original Diva, and her four costume changes the other night and raving about her, my darling daughter suggested that I write a story on Muskoka Daily about the best places in Muskoka to see a concert. As we are the type to follow Colin James and Bruce Springsteen literally around the continent (not together, silly), we think we are pretty equipped to write this story. Colin, come back to Muskoka please!!!
The Kee to Bala
In our opinion, there is no better kick-holes-in-the-wall and swill beer cavern to watch your old and new favourite bands. The Kee reminds us of the great American road houses that you find in ski resort towns. Overlooking Lake Muskoka in Bala, the Kee has “Resort Nights” and all ages events all summer long. This summer concert series still to come includes: The Arkells, The Sheepdogs and the summer usually draws to a close with Sam Roberts (this summer being no exception.) Balapalooza takes place on August 6 with open format DJs.

Casino Rama Concerts, Orillia
Ok, you missed the Supreme Diana Ross (who is on a North American tour ending with the Wynn in Las Vegas in October) but there is a long list of performances still to come this summer at Casino Rama including Trevor Noah, Howie Mandel, Santana and Franki Valli and the Four Seasons if you’re deep into nostalgia. Compared to a hockey arena or stadium, this is an intimate venue within driving distance of most Muskoka cottages.
Peter’s Players, Gravenhurst
From a Led Zeppelin Tribute band to a Jimi Hendrix Anniversary night to Amy Sky to an evening with Norm Foster, one of Canada’s most prolific playwrights, this small venue on the main drag of Gravenhurst has a very diverse set of incredible performances lined up for the summer.
