More than 22,000 people ran, walked and jogged down Yonge St. in Toronto yesterday/Sunday in the annual Sporting Life 10-kilometre event, which is co-sponsored by the Toronto Star, and raises funds for Camp Oochigeas, an overnight camp for kids affected by cancer located in Muskoka.

This year, 40 families who’ve had children attend Camp Ooch participated in the race, the highest number ever, said Lisa Nightingale, the communications officer for Camp Ooch.

Although I didn’t get to run it this year, I have done this fun spring 10K many times and it really is enjoyable to run downhill all the way in aid of the Muskoka-based camp. In its 17th year, the Sporting Life 10k has raised over $15 million for Camp Ooch. You can still make a donation directly on their website: https://www.ooch.org and next year, let’s lace up together.
