New stores, takeovers and expansion in Muskoka…inquiring minds and shoppers want to know!
First the takeover: The General Store in Rosseau has new owners. Laurie McDonald and Brian Dollin took over the keys to the store in March. Hopefully they won’t change things too much from the way that Cheryl and her sister ran the store. We liked you “just the way you are.”
Expansion: Stefan Szczerbak, a senior planner with the Bracebridge planning firm of Planscape, was before the Muskoka Lakes committee of the whole in April, seeking a revised site plan agreement with the township for his clients, Jeremy Fowler and Kathy McCarthy, owners of the Duke’s Marine boathouse in Port Carling. If this is approved, look for expanded retail space near Grand Electric and Frankie’s Surf Club.
Meanwhile, Grand Electric plans to open on the May long weekend and according to Mike Smith, the GM of both Grand Electric and Frankie’s Surf Club, “things will be the same as previous years. We are working on some exciting things and hope to have them confirmed in the coming weeks.” Look forward to that Mike!
And in breaking news: Burlington, ON furniture store is coming to Port Carling… Liz@TheLake plans to feature “a fabulous selection of sofas, loveseats, bedroom furniture, dining furniture, accent pieces at affordable prices. They showcase Canadian brands such as Palliser, Décor Rest, Stylus and more.”
