I have a confession to make: five years ago when I was designing and building our current cottage, Mr. H and I attended the Cottage Life Show. We thought we were going for inspiration but we ended up choosing and buying our hardwood flooring, our fireplaces, the facing for our mantle, a kayak, two paddles and several gifts for cottager friends. Clearly we are not “shoppers” we are “buyers.” Not impulsive, but we know what we like. We have gone back every year and always come home with something but currently it is more in the way of inspiration. We have a very eco-friendly, net zero furnace at our lake house but are always on the lookout for more ways to limit our effects on the beautiful environment in Muskoka.
On March 31 to April 2 at the International Centre, the Spring Cottage Life Show is the largest one-stop destination for cottagers to get summer ready, with ideas and advice on renoation and design, eco-smart landscaping, water toys, outdoor recreation and cottage entertaining from more than 600 exhibitors.

By the way, every time I look around my cottage, I still love everything we chose.
