Seems timely; we’re expecting snowsqualls in Muskoka this weekend, so here are some indoor activities to keep you from going stir crazy.
1.Create your own avatar on your phone. My favourite is bitmoji, a free app that let’s you select your hair colour and style, face shape, eye shape and this week I even picked out my outfit from Bergdorf Goodman. It’s scary how much it can look like you! You can use your bitmoji in text messages and on your Snapchat.
2. Read Bruce Springsteen’s auto-biography, Born to Run, in front of a roaring fire and with The River as your soundtrack. Put “Drive all Night” on repeat and dream about a man who would drive all night just to buy me shoes. Well. This well-written bio is an homage to the passion of artistic creativity. When talking about the heart of performing with the E Street Band, he says: “It is based on the principle that we bring our best, everything we have, on this night, to remind you of everything you have, your best.” Of course, I’m a little biased as I went to three of his four-hour shows in three different cities last year. Seeing him perform at the MetLife Stadium though…bucket list stuff. Born to Run is a good insight into his life and lyrics and a good read even if you are not a fan.
3. Research and then bake a couple of gluten free recipes. If you’re like me, it will be a tough search because I don’t eat dairy, gluten or sugar. But I have discovered coconut sugar and shredded coconut makes everything taste sweeter.
4. If you have a crowd this weekend, play Cards Against Humanity, “a party game for horrible people.” You can order a Canadian version from Amazon and it will be delivered within days. More people the better with this game. But definitely not your grandmother’s card game.
